Where Is Telangana?
One of India’s 29 states, Telangana, located in South India encompasses an area of 112,077 square km and has a population of 35,193,978 as per the 2011 census. It is the 12th largest Indian state. Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Warangal are the most significant cities in the state. The state lies in the Deccan Plateau region of the Indian Peninsula in the eastern seaboard’s central stretch.
Climate Of Telangana
Telangana experiences a hot and dry climate. Summers are quite hot and last from March to mid-June with May being the hottest month. Temperatures during this time can be as high as 42 °C. The monsoon arrives in mid-June and lasts till September. A precipitation of about 755 mm is received during this time. The winter is mild with temperatures ranging between 22 °C
to 23 °C. The winter lasts from late November to early February.
Soils In Telangana

Rivers Of Telangana
Godavari and Krishna are the two major rivers of Telangana. Minor rivers of Telangana include Maner, Manjira, Musi, and Bhima.
Waterfalls Of Telangana
The state of Telangana has several waterfalls. The 148 feet tall Kuntala waterfalls in the Adilabad district of the state is the highest waterfall in the state. Other important waterfalls are the Bogatha Waterfall, Savatula Gundam Waterfalls, and others.
Ecological Regions In Telangana
Sadly, over 80% of the original forest cover of the state has been cleared for cultivation, livestock grazing, and timber harvesting. Large tracts of forest are found in a few locations like the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve.
Mainly two types of ecoregions occur in the state:
Large parts of Telangana is covered by the Central Deccan Plateau dry deciduous forests. Woodlands of Albizia amara and Hardwickia binata cover much of the land.
The humid Eastern Highlands moist deciduous forests are found in the Eastern Ghats in the eastern part of the state.
Fauna Of Telangana
Tigers, wild dog, panther, wolf, hyena are some of the carnivores found in Telangana’s forests. Sloth bears also occur here. Gaur, elephants, blackbuck, nilgai, cheetal, chinkara, sambar are some of the herbivores in the forests of the region. A large number of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates also inhabit Telangana.
