The Three National Parks Of Telangana

Telangana is a south Indian state that has been only recently formed after separation from the state of Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad, the former capital of Telangana, is now the capital of this state of India. The state hosts three national parks as mentioned below:

Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park


Also known as the Chiran Fort Palace, this national park is located in the Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad in Telangana. The park occupies an area of 1.6 square km and was established in 1998. The national park hosts the Chiran Palace that was built in 1940 by Prince Azam Jah for his son. Besides the palace, there is also the Mor Bungalow on a hillock, stables for horses, elephants, and cattle, wells, water tanks, outhouses, etc. All these structures remain scattered amidst large stretches of greenery that hosts 600 species of plants, 140 species of birds, and numerous species of insects and reptilians. Some mammalian wildlife of this park includes the jungle cat, pangolin, small Indian civet, porcupines, etc. 

Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park


This national park is located in Vanasthalipuram, Saheb Nagar, Hyderabad, where it covers an area of 14.59 square km. It was established in 1975. The park is named after a Jain saint, Mahavir. The area where the park is was originally the hunting ground for the Nizam of Hyderabad. Later, the land was donated to government and a deer park was established in the place. Today, this national park of Telangana hosts a variety of wildlife including blackbucks, porcupines, egrets, cormorants, kingfishers, water monitors, and many other animals and birds.

Mrugavani National Park 

Also located in Hyderabad, the Mrugavani National Park is another green space in the city. It covers an area of 3.6 square km and houses about 350 spotted deer, forest cat, Russel’s viper, civet, Indian rat snake, King cobra, Indian hare,  and more.
